Default Best way to fill oil in rear end and gearbox

What is the best way to fill oil into the rear end and the gearbox without spilling too much?

I found that the squeeze bottle with spout that the vendors sell worked best for me.

I tried a transmission funnel with a long flexible tube but got tired of holding it while waiting for the oil to flow. The squeeze bottle seemed to go much faster and with much less mess.

I use this:

The screw on cap from the Harbor Freight pieces fits right on the bottles from Brattons:

Warm the oil before filling.

I use a squeeze bottle and put a short section of clear pvc tubing on the tapered end of the squeeze bottle cap. And I also warm the oil up to room temperature.

2X=I use a squeeze bottle and put a short section of clear pvc tubing on the tapered end of the squeeze bottle cap. And I also warm the oil up to room temperature. For the rear end. For the transmission, take the floor board out and just use the tapered tip.

I use a hand pump like one obtainable thru Walmart (Atwood 004580089 fits 32 oz bottles). Works great and less messy. Just leave the pump on the bottle for your next application.

This is a handy accessory for checking and filling transmission fluid:

This reminds me of Vic Tayback playing Mel on the old TV show Alice, warming the engine oil before changing it for his Porsche.

I find it quicker to take out the floorboard and remove the trans top and then you just pour it in to level .This is for when you fill an empty trans ,also you can check gear condition. This works fine with a simple factory rubber mat setup only takes a few minutes to do as long as the floorboard screws unscrew easily . Rear end as the previous posters advise .
