I was off about 50-75 cfms even for the 94-97 carb. So the Holley 885 would be even more.

Got it, I'd imagine the 885 to be 200+ cfm, those barrels are big compared to a 97 or 94.

Sure looks like that carb was adapted to the manifold. You can see the wide 4 bolt pattern like the later Autolite 2300 had is there, but abandoned.

The later fase II engines from 1971 to 1982 likely had a more conventional carburetor when it was new. I'm not familiar enough with the Ford of Argentina products to know for certain what they were equipped with.

Here is some info on the fase II engines in english for us USA folks that are not familiar with the South American versions.

The 885 installation was likely done for practical reasons. Some one needed a good carb and that is all they had at the time. Unless they wanted some special form of air filter system for the truck.

Since fase II engines were not manufactured in the USA, I don't know of any source for parts or maintenance information. We would only have the equivalent to the fase I engine in the USA Ford Y-block series of engines manufactured from 1952 through 1963. or so.

As my 52 Merc has the Holley "teapot" type carburetor I am a little curious why some refer to them as the towering inferno? I'm hoping not because they are prone to fires.

Thank for this info!

In my Country is very famous the Phase II or Fase 2, I am learning how to assemble and disassemble the engine and it is interesting.

Probably a high percentage of the reputation is because of being passed on by those who never experienced or never knew anyone who experienced the phenomenon.
Considering where the float chamber is located in the air plenum, any leakage could cause excess fuel where it really should not be.
