Re: Windshield motor Trico..question!
The only number I have found that listed 35-36 pickup is KSB 263 G. I have a new in the box old stock universal motor(KSB 600-2L) that will fit your truck since it has interchangeable shafts of 1 1/2 or 1 3/4 inches. It also has a adjustable control. $65 plus shipping. Keith Oh

Lawson,
Attached are 2 photos of the wiper motor we discussed. The cost will be $65.00 plus actual postage. Let me know if you are interested and I will find out the cost of USPS. Keith OH |

is this correct for a 46 ford ? most that I have seen have 2 places where wiper linkage connect the motor, that looks like a single arm setup to me |

Re: Windshield motor Trico..question!
That wiper motor looks very much like the 46-48 Ford wiper. Many times Trico wiper motors fit more than one vehicle. I've had Trico wipers that fit a specific Ford model and the same motor fits one or two Chrysler products. If the one you have fits in the car and works correctly just use it.

Re: Windshield motor Trico..question!
It may well fit Harylufa's '46 but the wiper motor from my '46 sedan differed in two ways from the one pictured. First, as mentioned by "oldskool", the wiper motor had a double connection arm. Second, the '46 wiper motors have a separate control valve whereas the one pictured appears to have the control valve attached. FWIW

Re: Windshield motor Trico..question!
Has anyone seen the adapter shown in Keith Oh's second picture as Fig. D? That looks like a better setup than the one in Fig. C.

Re: Windshield motor Trico..question!
I believe there were 2 wiper motors available in 46-48 one was made by trico and had a vacuum control knob mounted near the choke pull on lower dash and had sWf on the knob, the other was made by anco and was cable controlled ,the knob was mounted in the upper dash in center windshield divider, this is from my observation and not gospel...al

Re: Windshield motor Trico..question!
Can't guarantee it was 100% stock but my '46 had a Trico motor and the control valve was mounted immediately behind the center divider of the windshield. Lots of variations.

Re: Windshield motor Trico..question!
I've got the wiper section of the '46 book open here...the wiper you show appears identical to the one shown in the book (Trico type), so very likely it is original. ID from a picture cannot be 100% since there is no way to spot minor differences in lengths of the arms or their angles, but if it fit in there and worked it is most likely the correct one. It would hook up to a valve with 3 hose connections.
The Anco is very different, a fat cylindrical thing, and uses an integral valve worked by a rod from the knob rather that the Trico type separate valve with hose connections...the 2 kinds used different arms and brackets as well, so they aren't really interchangeable. |

The one I have in pic is really original? Mine have the three hose connection in middle windshield. If wiper motor I show is original I must buy a new kit. Thanks

Re: Windshield motor Trico..question!
Wiper valve/switch has three hose connections...one to manifold fitting, a big and a little one to the Trico. The smaller hose is what pulls the wiper to its parked position when you turn it off.
Before you worry about it...squirt in some light oil via hose connection and work it back and forth for a while. Hook it up to a vac hose on a running car and see what happens. It may be perfectly fine but jammed up with ancient grease. My '48 one works as well as ever with around 230,000 KM on it since my Father took delivery on his new car... |

Re: Windshield motor Trico..question!
The Jan-Feb 1985 issue of the V8 Times has photo and also a drawing of the 1946-47 wiper but does not give the Trico number. However in looking at the photo as well as at the drawing the wiper owned by the person who started this discussion is an original.

Re: Windshield motor Trico..question!
I am back with more information from the article. I found the reference that the 1946 closed car wiper is Trico SSR-1-4.

Re: Windshield motor Trico..question!
If it is installed and working don't worry about it unless you are going for a Dearborn Award. If you are gigged for wrong wiper motor it probably will not be more than 1 point. Don't worry; Be happy. lol
