Two tooth gear box
On a two tooth gear box how do you get the shaft to pull out of the worm gear. I thought about heating it up but I don’t know if that’s good for the worm gear thanks Randy

Re: Two tooth gear box
I'm not sure I am following your question totally, but the shaft is pressed onto the worm, so it doesn't just "pull out". You will need a press to remove the worm gear from the shaft.

Re: Two tooth gear box
I've seen several good tools made for the removal of the worm gears from the steering shafts but they are for the later Ford/Gemmer type deigns.
https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=215074 I think this is for earlier design Gemmer 2-tooth types. https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=239513 |

The energy to remove & install a worm gear onto the shaft is extremely high, so take it to a shop with a high capacity press. By the way, the worm gear should be chrome plated to give it good wear.
