Default leakless water pump

I have a new leakless water pump and new fan blade. I ground down the front of the water pump cause it seemed the blade was rubbing. Before installing everything seemed smooth. After installing I still have the same noise. Could it be the packing nut should be tightened? Should it be touched at all? I didn't have this problem with my old water pump that leaked water, it was quiet but very wet. :-)

Try starting car without fan belt.

If still making same sound, at least you now know it’s not the generator or water pump.

I had to grind mine to clear the fan same as you . Castings seem to be machined off center.
