Default Forgot speedo gear on drive shaft?

I put my engine back in car and bolted drive shaft and trany and all and then realized I forgot to put speedometer gear on drive shaft. Do I have to pull all bolts and slide engine ahead to take u joint out to put in the speedo gear I so stupidly forgot to pput on the shaft. What a pain I created. Any suggestions. Thanks Dennis

Much easier to pull the differential

Are you talking about the gear 'on' or 'in' the shaft? 'On' is no problem at all, 'in' means pulling the diff.
