1929 Cowl Lacing
The Cowl Lacing of my early 1929 Phaeton was gone at the time I bought Henry's Lady. Can anyone tell me what the correct way is to install new? I ordered new from Mac's. Pictures showing how it should be done are more then welcome!

Re: 1929 Cowl Lacing
Are you only concerned with the cowl lacing and not the gas tank lacing. You really need a special tool to install the split rivets correctly (shown). The rivet heads should be on the inside. I believe I have pictures of both, but I would need to dug through my computer to find them.

Like the looks of that install with the special tool. Is that available from parts housed or a restored original? Bob

Re: 1929 Cowl Lacing
Bob,
I bought the lacing tool from the manufacturer about 8 or 9 years ago. However Snyder's now sells the tool - PN T-4060-X. Beware that there are two tools that look almost the same. The tools were made for model T riveting. You need the style like shown in my pictures above. Rusty Nelson |

Re: 1929 Cowl Lacing
The wire run through the center bead of the lacing. No lacing for 1" in the center, where the J hook pulls the wire tight. The wire ends go into the hole, down and back up then through the hole and bend up. I've posted pictures of the original wire and lace on my late 28, and a search should find them. Search "cowl lacing Tom Wesenberg", and I'd think they will turn up.

Is there a picture of the "J Hook" installed?
