I need an answer to this also. My seat back has the hold down brackets at the bottom but none at the top. I also do not see where they can be attached at the top. Any photos on this would be appreciated. Ron

Crossways in seat riser
Make sure you install it in the riser before you rivet the riser to the sub frame (ask me how I know) Afordman31

My '31model A Budd steel roofed cab originally had the back rest's top hooks spot welded to the back wall at the belt line. Our 1930 A Pick up is also designed that way too. The back rest hooked on the bottom hooks first and then finished hooking in by tucking in under the belt line's horizontal wood reinforcement and hooking just below it. If done by reply number 5, you will lose a couple of inches of working room between the back rest and the steering wheel.

Snyders catalog shows the correct ones that screw into the horizontal wood rail right under the rear window frame.

You are correct about the top hooks being spot welted to the cab. The pictures are from Snyders showing both ways that Henry installed the hooks.

Larry
Thanks for doing your home work on Snyders.
I learned something today that I didn't know about two different ways the seat back was installed. Thanks

On the four 30 - 31 model A Ford pick ups that I have here, All four of them have the A 80300R2 hangers (hooks) that weld to the cab's belt rail. However, the lower retainers on all four of them have a different lower hook than what is pictured above. Their three lower hooks are spears attached to the vertical back rest braces and they stick almost straight up. The back rest is dropped over these relatively long spears before the top hooks are finally hooked.
