I used a long 4x4 square tube about 12 ft. long. Chain the rear of the frame at rear cross member and I took the front fenders off to chain the front of the frame. I used a bottle jack at the rear motor mount on the bottom of the frame, jack it up till the hood fits. I found tis to be quick and easy in my garage.

I seem to have a bent frame also and want to know if any of the ideas to correct it can be done with the body on or does it need to come off. Ron

I chained mine down to a large flatbed trailer to do some work to it. Then I've heard of chaining it down to abandoned train tracks. But again, These are another version of the cold Re-bending. The metal has been in tension for eighty years. Think of how you break a wire, first you bend it one way, then you bend it back. This "Fatigues" the metal and weakens it. just my humble opinion.

Has anyone tried wrapping chain around platform channels (with body on car) of a 9000# 4 post car lift ? One would think the channels would be strong enough ?

I used a couple of 2X10s on edge(a notch in the bottom for the chain) and it worked fine.

Ed: In post 28, how are the two 2 x10's placed? Are they laminated to make a 4 x 10 length wise ,set parallel to frame ? Also, with the body on the car, what should be done with the body to frame bolts (loosen some or all of them , etc. ) ?? It would also seem that anything attached to the firewall and radiator (radiator rods, etc.) should be loosened.
