Default Larry Patton auction in Springfield, Ohio

We went to this auction yesterday and came back with a few transmission goodies. The auction was well organized and proceeded at a good pace. The only fly in the ointment was the steady rain that began about a half hour after the start (everything was auctioned outside). Now we have to figure out where we’re going to stash this bounty in our building. With the transmission training program coming up in September, the pressure is growing to clear out more space for the school. Keeping a good backup stock of core transmission parts is essential.

We had bidding competition of course so we weren’t able to grab it all. Couple fellas wanted a 39 style transmission and knew what they wanted. After they picked their choice we were able to get most of what we wanted. There were two rows of about 12 each of single flathead V8 engines on wood skids and many were pretty complete. An original correct 1932 engine went for over a grand. It turned over by hand too. Lots and lots of other flathead goodies on many skids. Plus several 1932 hot rod projects, various 1930’s Ford cars, chassis, etc. The minimal pictures on the auction website didn’t do justice to all the items available for bids.

Mac, I decided not to make the drive based on the pictures on their website! Guess I made a mistake!

I was also concerned about how much we might see at the auction…..they never did post many pictures. But, it’s been my experience over the years that they never really get a chance to post pictures of everything. Many times the stash is packed in small compact areas, on multiple shelves, and crammed into every nook and cranny in the buildings. The photographer would have to pull everything out for the photo op and then put it back away until the auction date. So, you generally get dark shots in poorly illuminated areas of random bunches of parts. Consider this to be a sampler rather than a complete inventory. When it comes to parts collections, this is the usual type of promotion.

‘32 rolling chassis was $4,500. I think one of the ‘32 roadster projects went just over $20K and the other was around 15K. Some parts low, some high. There was a lot more than the pictures show and the auction moved VERY quickly.

I see you have a box of rear mounts, do you have the '32-'36 revulcanized? If not let me know, I'd be interested in them as cores.
Thank you, Paul
