Default Engine splash pans bolts

Did the 1929 engine splash pans bolts have lock washers and cottor keys?
Thanks

I believe the fine threaded bolts used square nuts and cotter pins, no lock washers originally. Of course, you can do what you want if your vehicle is not being judged for authenticity.

I agree!

Engine pans make a big difference.

Enjoy.

cotterpins used until mid 1929 and then changed to unfinished lock washers. square nut used thru out production.

To ease installation, I tapped the holes in the frame and just use bolts and lock washers. I also use cut down fender washers on the oil pan side to spread out the clamping force and help to prevent cracking.

Having had an untouched 1929 60c I found a 1/4 20 thread on a3/8 head with square nuts and a piece of tag wire through the bolt . All 6 bolts had the wire bent exactly the same way. I feel this was the way Henry built it!!

When I restored our 1929 Sport Coupe, fire wall date 6/18/29), back in 1981. The pans had been removed years before but the bolts and the pan fingers that the bolts went thru were still there. There was no wire of any type. Just bolt and washer.

Enjoy.
