Default Model A battery

Is anyone making the Ford script 6V replacement battery?
I purchased one about 4 years ago from Jim's Battery in Ohio but tried for 2 months leaving messages and never got s return phone call.

A battery will last a long time on the shelf as long as it is only kept dry. If it is serviced with acid, the time clock starts to tick on its longevity. The average wet cell battery will last on the average around four or five years. Some of the replicas are an AGM battery in a tar top looking case.

Some folks purchased replica batteries in order to gut them and install an Optima spiral cell AGM type inside the case. This link is to a company that advertises the early Ford type batteries but the prices are way out there.

I can't see the fuss given that it's under the floor. Plus they seem to cost a ton. Roto is right, the clock starts ticking. Plus people think a batter tender is a good thing...not necessarily.

Gene, it appears you are questioning the mindset of a couple of hobbyists who have chosen to accurately restore their Model-A.

Please elaborate. The lead/acid battery in my Town Sedan is going on 10 years. I always put it on my Battery Tender® when parked.

A tender, charger is the best way to go. My 23 H Cub Cadet is 9 years old with the original battery and starts every spring so far, this is a multi-use device ,6v/12v if power goes out it picks correct voltage also charges and can repair.https://www.amazon.com/dp/B083R2T8MW...v_ov_lig_dp_it .Keep it dry under the hood or inside the car on the firewall.I have 7 vehicles of all types and all have something like this .I rarely buy a battery and most of these set for months.Avoid Harbor Freight. Amazon and E Bay are good. I had one fail under warranty and it was replaced in three days. This one is on the Model A.https://www.amazon.com/EBL-Battery-C...3-e0d79fe36334 .

I just got off the phone with Wayne at Battery Central Mall, great guy and very knowledgeable. 5-8 months wait for a new battery. He says Jim's is still in business but won't answer the phone or return emails. Jim's is their supplier.
