I called them yesterday to find the expected delivery date for a pair of new running boards for my 1940 Ford, promised for June 20th. Now they are promised for the end of July. (hope it is July of 2013, as they didn't say what year).

I have been placed on hold numerous times for 15 minutes or more. They frequently are just very slow to answer. Whoever does finally pick up will tell me they need more people answering the phone. Agreed.

My running boards were promised for April. Now, too, I am being told July, but they haven't even arrived in the U.S. yet if I understand correctly.

All around, not a great customer experience.

the problem with Bob Drakes communication has been in effect for about 25 years.

I bought 4 of Bobs hubcaps out of Bobs hands at Pate. I tried all four on my right front wheel. One would not pop on, one popped on weakly and fell off, two popped on correctly. Bob Drake insisted that I had an aftermarket wheel! (nope, Ford wheel.) Common sense says its the hubcaps.
Way back when Bobs catalog bragged everything Made in USA. The wipers I ordered had the gold warning tag---Made in Taiwan. They refused to talk to me. The list is long.

Recently emailed Dennis Carpenter asking whether a particular part was made in the USA. They responded within a couple of hours with "yes". I ordered the part and, by golly, they were correct! Pushed DC up a notch on the credibility scale IMO.

I've always had problems with Drake. I talked to some fellows at the car shows if they have bought from Drake, and if so, how was the experience? The ones who said they had dealt with Drake, told me their experience was pretty bad. I haven't bought from DC yet, but my favorite vendor as of now is Macs.

Some really interesting, yet familiar stories here-in. Have the usual members of the BD Support Committee noted the fact that KUBE hasn't preached even one word on this thread? DD

Tried to get my parts online, "new" P/N not found. Called, ring-ring-ring-no nothing. Again & again, finally an auto answer, put on hold 10+ minutes, gave up.

Coopman, I have pretty much given up. I have in the past attempted to alert others of the crap that Drake sells "advertised as great stuff of course" and his BS "you're the first time we've heard of this, blah, blah..." only to get blasted by those that are just so thankful Bob walks this earth. Otherwise their cars would not be what they are. The same guys miss the point over and over or simply don't care if they are told they will get one thing and receive another. Each time I have offered up proof as to what ol' Bob is peddling. Pictures, etc... still, there seemingly are too many that are willing to accept crap vs. nothing at all.
I am glad to see a few others are chiming in this time around and publicly exposing Bob for what he is, well, at least for how he runs his company.
Until folks stop accepting something less than they were promised, guys like this will continue to thrive.
Bottom line for me... I am just plain tired of being the messenger that gets killed for delivering the message.
Guys that care enough to restore / repair their cars correctly will, or have already, sorted out the bad dealers from the good.
