Default Part ID needed

Don't laugh at me guys. I found a few of these mixed in with some NOS Model A parts that I got recently and can't figure out what it is. I know it's not Model A and I'm pretty sure it's not Model T, so I'm guessing that it's early V8. Anybody recognize it?

Parts from a low-tech universal joint? Something in the photo to indicate size would be useful.

Size is important and what material is the part made from that looks like a cog washer?

Yeah, I guess size would help. It's between 1" and 1.25" in diameter. The flat washer is some type of phenolic and the cup is brass. I'll measure it tomorrow and try to get better pictures.

My first thoughts were either some type of water pump part or light switch spider, and yes it looks like something that could have been in a starter drive as well, but it's too weak for that.

I'm reasonably certain it's automotive, but I've been wrong before. Glad to know I'm not the only person that doesn't recognize it...

Thanks guys!

When I saw that washer looking part, my first thought was, if it's some type of phenolic, it looks very much like an internal part out of my '33 - '36 Ford water pumps. You will see a similar part in these pictures. This phenolic washer maintains pressure against a spring loaded rubber seal.

Off to the green Ford parts book to see what I can find...

Well, can't find anything in the parts book as far as water pump parts go. They do show two different phenolic washers like the one JM 35 Sedan shows above, but they make specific mention of the four tabs and their dimensions. Back to the drawing board...

Anybody else have any ideas?
