I believe that is for a 39 deluxe Ford car. 40 had a more pronounced area where the choke/throttle rods exit and a little different at the bottom for the "feet" as well.

It's '39 deluxe or early '40. There's no holes for the windshield wiper motor to bolt on. The wiper motor bracket should be spot welded to the inside of the firewall. I've seen early '40s with the spot welded bracket

Here's a 1940 coupe firewall. This particular car was an early build as it has the "push in" slide up ashtrays and 1939 "bug" dates on the glass. The slanted portion on each side of the "indent" is 8 3/4 in long and the length of the slanted portion at the center where the "indent" is is 7 in. long. I didn't know the choke and throttle rod bumps changed later on. Thanks for that info.

No cutout/box for battery on passenger side = 1940; was not aware of change for choke/throttle rod "bumps" for mid-late production, something else to look for when checking cars out.

I thought the '40 had a notch in the driver side for the shift rod on top of the column.

I'd say this '39 Deluxe is a dead ringer. DD
