Default Cleaning up shop

I spent all morning cleaning out my shop. I got the front 1/4 cleaned up pretty well. Mostly trash. Surprising how many tools I found. One full Ranger bed piled through of old boxes, scrap metal, scrap of all sorts. I should be able to have it all cleaned out by say, July 4th. LOL Haven't hit the shelves and/or cabinets and shelves yet. I know, I should do this more often. LOL

Well now you're going to have to get some more stuff to fill up all that vacant space you have.

Its a sickness. A few years ago I set a dumpster at my rollup door and started hauling junk out, cleaning junk corners and I'd be carrying a doodad out blowing 20years dust off it and catch myself thinking 'gee, that looks handy I'd better keep it!'
Its about time that I did the same thing, the stuff just piles up and I don't have the gift of being able to display it in an artsy fashion like others can. Some people can stack up some oil cans and make it look like a million bucks, I stack them and they look like junk.

I've been thinkin' maybe the barn will get hit by tornado - save a lot of cleaning.

Lawson, July 4th of what year??? Every time I try to "clean up" the garage, I usually end up just transferring things from one spot to another...

I know the feeling, but over the years it seems like when I clean and get organized something that has been hanging or laying around for years and I make the decision to 86 it, damn if not a short time after I could have used it or a friend could have used it. So I'm getting a lot better at storing things.

I found my 1/4" drill in the middle of the junk barrel. Ahh Haa. So, that's where it has been hiding. Then I remembered I threw it away because it was junk. LOL Sooo, that's why my son bought me a new one for Christmas. Full blown CRAFT.

Paul,

Yea, I keep telling myself I gotta make up my mind. Quit fooling with VW's or Fords.

Too many of both - just having trouble deciding. Have a nice VW Porsche in another shed. Ain't enough time!

Looks like I'll keep the Fords, but air cooled VW's are easier......

The longer you keep something before you throw it out, the sooner you need it after you do.

I just cleaned the front part of my garage so I had room to work on the Fordor. Two days later realized I threw out my cardboard "creepers". Us old fat boys need help sliding around on the concrete floor.

Lawson. I'll pay you to come and clean out my garage. I haven't got room for another flathead, not room for a postage stamp on the walls. I don't want to watch while your cleaning it out. It would be nice to start again with new clean shop. Would be nice start 30yr's younger also. Walt

Walt. Thanks for the invite. 30 years ago I probably would have taken you up on the offer. Lawson

I think that everyone should build a larger shop. That would fix the problem, but what size shop? Mine's a 32x40 with a 12 ft lean and I do woodworking too.

A satisfying feeling having a cleanup and discovering lost toys. But just sit back and watch someone make a mess again.
