Fourth gear bang In my Merc.
Question, in my mostly stock Y block 56' Merc. automatic when running thur the gears some times it bang hard into hi gear ...I'm afraid to ask.
The tranny operate good other then that .Someone it does and other not . Thank you for reading.

Yum, you have a fourth gear in a '56 automajic??
Is it making a banging noise or just shifting hard? Does it happen on acceleration only? |

hard shifting up or down could be a sticky valve body, put in a can of lucas trans conditioner and see if that helps, i did for me
