Re: 32 Parts - How to tell Original from Reproduction??
The very earliest versions of the deluxe coupe sun visors did not have the end caps. they were added as a running change.

Re: 32 Parts - How to tell Original from Reproduction??
Thanks for the info. There is no Drake name molded into the spokes of the wheel...so that is still undetermined.
Thanks again...and I am sure I will have more questions... Neal |

One last thought on the sun visors. Whomever covered them used a non-original stitch pattern. Originally, the stitch line was up tight around the inside of the wire frame, not out in the middle like in the photo.

If you can't tell if it's a repro or not don't worry about it. G.M.

Re: 32 Parts - How to tell Original from Reproduction??
Here's another part I am trying to figure out...I think 4-cylinder dash control for adjusting the carb...but the knob says CHOKE? Does it do both?
Can anyone verify? Thanks, Neal |

Re: 32 Parts - How to tell Original from Reproduction??
I would avoid twisting the choke cable, pulling on it is OK but they don't like the twisting too much. The twistin' is what killed a lot of those choke cables.
On my B I leave the adjustment closed, pull the choke, crank the starter a bit, release the choke and it usually starts, then I pull the choke back out a little and hold it for a minute or so till it starts to warm up, then I let the choke open all the way...no twistin'..... just pullin' then holdin' till it warms and then lettin' go

With respect, it's the outer conduit that fails frequently and not the core. I can't recall seeing a failed choke cable core. For what it's worth, the owner's manual starting procedure is somewhat different, but I've found it to be effective.

Re: 32 Parts - How to tell Original from Reproduction??
I think we covered this earlier in this thread, but no matter. Stick your finger in the curl and if you feel a large washer inside about midway, they're reproductions. Judging from the size of the knuckles on the bumpers in your photos, you will not encounter a washer.

Re: 32 Parts - How to tell Original from Reproduction??
Original bumpers are spring steel, the heat treating leaves a distinct pattern and texture on the back side. These bumpers are smooth on the back, leading one to surmise they are cold rolled repos.
