stromberg carb Q...

I like strombergs. I guess because they are simple/reliable...like me !
I have a matched set of 48s stored away, that look like they would run well as is.
I'm thinking of running these two together on a warmed up '32 B engine.
Any thoughts that this is doable/bad or good idea ?
Anyone run two 48s and if so, satisfied with them ?

Good combo would be .046 mains with #67 powervalves.

A friend of mine runs three 81s and he likes the way they run. He says that he runs or has run two 48s and that they did real well.

About only good thing about living left coast, is that we do not have ethanol gas in this area that I'm aware of. But, to your point about using the best gaskets that can be had, I try to buy the best Stromberg carb gaskets available.

hardtimes, I moved with my Ford back to Ohio from So. Cal and within a year the carb started leaking and the flex line from the firewall to the fuel pump crumbled in my hands. Ethanol.
Yeah, I know why move? To be with family after a divorce. Couldn't afford to be by myself and sure as hell would never get another woman.

I run dual 48s with straight linkage on a Merc 255 plus 0.030 over. No complaints here.

I do know marriage, having just 'celebrating' 50th last month !
I do not know how the left coast dodged the ethanol 'bullet', so far !

Sounds like a healthy merc engine ! I take it you did not have to change any internals.

I'm pushing 239 with FOUR 4" cylinders and some other 'stuff' , so she just may like 2 48s !

I am fessing up to possibly/maybe/could be WRONG
A long time friend here (MikeAz) gave me a heads up and questioned my statement...regarding NO ethanol in left coast gas, except what comes out of me,eh
Well, I went to my other 'friend' google and she cornfused the heck out of me regarding this sugject. So, I'm cornseeding that there is possibly anywhere from 0 to 10% corn squeezings in the crap fuel out here also.

Should have known better than to think that this side of the country was doing something/anything that was good for US !! Guess I'll just strain the crap out of my gas prior to putting it into my old '32 engine
