Burtz cylinder head info thread
There isn't a separate thread for the Burtz heads, so I thought I'd start one. Here is what has been published or is otherwise known:
- Cast iron 6.5:1 stock-appearance head - Works with original engine blocks, water pumps, distributors, etc. - Redesigned water jacket for better cooling on the back cylinders - Modified Police Head combustion chamber with 140cc volume - Doesn't have the Snyder head problem where the head is slightly too small - Water pump bolt holes are all blind, so no potential to leak - Sold through his website - Costs $400, plus tax and shipping ($78 for me, may vary for you) - First units shipping now from California So far I have not heard any official recommendation for plugs. Re: Burtz cylinder head info thread
I got my invoice on Tuesday 10/18, in my experience they don't invoice until they have product to ship.

Re: Burtz cylinder head info thread
I was just getting ready to order a head from snyders and saw the add for the Burtz head. I saw it was $400 compared to $3something from snyders and wondered why, I guess it’s because the Snyder head doesn’t cover the head gasket completely? I noticed the Burtz add mentioned it did cover the entire gasket.

And I have a question: is the imperfections in the texture over the pistons there by design? Is an uneaven surface better than a complete level one? |

Re: Burtz cylinder head info thread
I guess I never followed up from last fall. I received my Burtz cylinder head in a timely manner after I paid the invoice. (I've been delighted with the customer service from John Lampl, who is the guy fulfilling the Burtz engine orders. Not so much with the shippers. I've commented in another thread about that.)
So far I have the head (and the rest of the Burtz engine) still in the shipping containers because I've been too busy with the rest of the work on my '30 to unpack it all. All that's happened since I received the head is that my son's dog decided that he needed to lift his leg on the cardboard... which we stopped in a big hurry. JayJay

Re: Burtz cylinder head info thread
I ordered my head Friday the 17th and it is scheduled to be delivered Friday the 24th. That’s good turn around!
