1937 Truck Headliner Trim Question

I'm getting ready to install the new cardboard headliner/interior kit in my Model 79. I've got the trim pieces that go vertical at the back of the door and the pieces that go over the door to the windshield.


But it looks like there should be one also that goes in the front to attach or pinch it to the top of the panel that the wiper motors are hidden in.


There's holes in the panel where it looks like screws would go, but I can't find anything online to verify how the headliner should attach there.


Any suggestions or info is greatly appreciated.

The front edge of the headliner is attached to the top part of the panel where the "wiper covers" attached. You can clearly see the screw holes there. Oval headed screws with the counter sunk or "dish" washers are used here, just the door panels.

Hey Snappydon, when I installed a new headliner panel in my un- molested '37 1/2 ton, there was no trim member used at the front edge of the panel. The headliner panel just butts up to the shoulder of the sheet metal.

Ok, thanks guys. I’ll probably go with the screws and washers. That was gonna be my solution if there was a piece of trim and I couldn’t find one.

If the holes in the sheet metal lip are 1/4" diameter punched holes, which from your photo they appear to be, then the front edge of the cardboard trim panel is attached with push pins like the door. Most of the truck interior cardboard panels are attached the same way - 1/4" diameter punched holes with the push pin fasteners.

I got the entire headliner/door panel/lick panel kit from Ecklers, But it's a Cartouche product.

Thanks Dave, again. Yeah I test fit one of the old door panel push pins and it went in perfectly.

I was going by the way the headliner is attached on the 35-36 truck. My bad for assuming 37 was the same, and yes, I know what happens when you assume. It makes an ass of You and Me.

I also a complete interior panel kit from Ecklers before they were bought out. Ecklers bought Mac's, Mac's bought Cartouche and now the new multi-national conglomerate decided to no longer make the panels, so the end result is the interior cardboard panel source is now gone.

I bought a kit for my ‘51 Tudor just in time. I should have bought it four or five years ago, it was about $1000 cheaper. My next project is a ‘37 Commercial and I didn’t buy that one. Out of luck I guess. I tend to think parts will be around forever......what a big mistake on my part!.......Mark
