This link is the rear main seal installation. If your not familiar with Ted Eaton, have a look at the whole site. There’s also John Mummert and Tim McMasters sites. Between the 3 of them (actually any one of them) there’s nothing they don’t know about Y blocks.

Opps, I didn’t follow K’s link far enough. My apologies.

This will get you started. From Tim McMaster’s site

http://yblockguy.com/techtips/yblocktorquetable.html

See the note at the bottoms regarding the mains.

These are a couple of y block assembly books. Each has the occasional error, or item someone will disagree with. I don’t remember the specific ones. If you go to the yblocksforever site, most of that will come up. It’s an “engine” dedicated site, although some sections are more general.

Should invest in a shop manual. Has the information you need.

The books miker mentioned are good... you might get one to double check your work before installing it in the car.

In the 56 Shop Manual, torque specs are in the back. 55 different ?

I have found the 1954-55 Ford Truck Shop Manual to be lacking in many torque specs. My go-to source is the 1959 Ford Truck Shop Manual. Page 1-106 has a fairly complete table. It also provides a table of torque by bolt size. So if you are holding a 5/16-24 bolt you know its max torque is 15-18 ft-lbs, for example.

I think if you get a little bit newer manual and pretend you have a 292 you'll be in good shape.

If I could feel the wear/rust with my fingernail I'd replace them. Are the lifters & cam new or used?
It might work out better to replace the cam & lifters with a new matched set.
Use a good assembly lube and a high-zinc break-in motor oil.
