Default 1940 convertible windshield leaks

Windshield leaking on this convertible. Any tips or tricks to keep it dry? Got a new seal coming from Steele rubber supply, but was wondering about sealer, do you need it, and if so what kind, where do you put it? Asking for a friend. thanks....

Be careful with sealers not designed specifically for automotive glass. "Regular" silicone will (de)laminate the glass.
My guess says that the new rubber will take care of any leaks.

When I replaced the seal around the windshield of my '46, the very bottom left hand corner would leak only if I was driving the car. I used Permatex Windshield and Glass Sealant. It worked for me.

I see woodiewagon46 beat me to it! I had this Permatex black recommended to me and it worked great on my 40 convert vent windows:
