How Many Years Have You Owned Your Car Or Truck?

Bought my 1934 five window in 1985, see before and after pictures below.

My grandfather bought our the family farm in 1946. Along with the deal was a 1945 Ford truck (see avatar). Between my grandparents, father and uncle, they logged over 300000 miles on this truck. The truck was parked in the barn for a long time when I was young and not driven. My grandfather gave me the truck in 1990 and also paid for a local restorer to do a decent frame off. 67 years in the family!

I got both my 39 coupe(imported from west Virginia to here in the u.k ) and my 37 zephyr coupe (right hand drive )in the same year 24 years ago ....not a record ...I tore them both apart to restore and got bored /sidetracked with classic bikes and an old house...the 39 is almost finished and the Lincoln I,m hopefully going to do serious work on soon ....I,v just imported a 51 f1 truck that is needing work that I didn't expect and the years are a rolling on rather quickly and the English winter is coming ,need to get up earlier and work later..... oh well..the fun of old cars, cheers jim.

Had a friend who bought a new Plymouth Coupe in 1941, owned and drove the car on a regular basis until his passing in 2010. His widow still has possession of the car, along with a '58 Chrysler 300. At the visitation at the funeral home they had put together a video of him and his wife with the cars he had owned over the years.
I think the number of years would be 69 or so.

Although I owned a 1935 Ford Convertible Sedan for 50 years it was regretfully sold a few years ago. I am driving a 1930 Ford Coupe owned 72 1/2 years and continually registered except during my military service WWII. I also drive a 1929 Ford Phaeton owned 59 years and also continuously registered, a 1931 Postal truck owned 55 years, and a Mustang bought new in 1964 the introductory year of the Mustang.

I have had my 30 Deluxe Roadster 1987 when I titled it. I had it before that in pieces before that. Got my 33 in 94. I have bought and traded car most of my life. I just sold my 56 a couple of months ago. I never get tired looking for another old car.

I bought my 1940 Ford Deluxe Coupe back in 1974 for $225.00 with money I had earned mowing lawns. I was 15 years old, and started high school the following week. I found the car parked in front of a house along a narrow country road in the Sierra Foothills. The asking price was $300.00, but dad helped to negotiate the price down. He, and my uncle, then helped me to drag it back home to the bay area. It was an old hot rod that had a rusted solid 1953 Buick V8 mated to a 1939 Ford transmission, and a 1948 truck rear axle. Someone had taken a sledge hammer to the firewall. The interior was gutted, except for a pair of 1963 Falcon Convertible bucket seats bolted to and angle iron frame that was welded to the floor (I threw the seats away; years later such seats have sold for up to $1,000.00 a pair!). It took another 15 years for me to collect parts, learn how to build cars, and save enough money to have things like the bodywork and paint done. Completed in 1989, I entered it in the 1991 Grand National Roadster Show at the Oakland Colosseum. It brought home a second place in the Custom Rod Coupe Class. I have driven the car as far South as Anaheim, CA and as far North as Victoria British Columbia. The last time I looked at the odometer, it was just shy of 30K miles.

My 1972 Corvette 41 years. Purchased new.
My 1989 Chev. Caprice 24 years. Purchased new.

There is a young fellow by the name of "Buzz" P in the Washingto DC group that has owned his '36 Conv Sedan since 1936. I believe he still has some of the original tires on it.

I bought my 47 in 1980, I was 24yrs old, it had 3 flat tires and the Flathead was in the trunk... I never drove it til I was 54?

I know a gentleman in Maryland who has owned his 1936 fordor covertible since he bought in new in 1936. He is now in his mid nineties and undoubtedly holds the record.
