Default What color green is my coupe

Hey guys I have a question. I have done some searches and I am trying to figure out the actual name of the color green on my 30 coupe. There are so many greens that its hard to tell just by looking at color chips. I would like to get some touch up paint for it. Thanks in advance for your help

I think the intent was for it to be Brewster Green. Computer monitors & digital images can alter the true colors so what I may be seeing is skewed but the color looks lighter than what was original.

As for obtaining some touch-up paint, I suggest taking your Coupe to a larger paint jobber who has teh capability of scanning the color with a computer and blending a match for you through tinting.

I'd drive it to a paint store and have them scan the color for a match.
I sure like the color and the car.

Yep, that is a pretty car. I took my door to have the color matched for some repair and the closet came out a 1989 Chrysler blue.

But what about this, Ross, some poke a stoneguard on a Model A & VOILLE'----It looks Like my Uncle Pappy's old '29 CHEV! Not degrading his Stovebolt, that old dude took us from California to Oklahoma, with just the loss of an outer wheel bearing in Kingman, Arizona. NO heater, we froze our tush's off in Tucumcari, New Mexico on Route 66! We were wrapped up in War Surplus Navy wool Blankets. Wish someone would make a stoneguard that outlines the classic pointy Model A shell design. Once, I hot glued 5 beautiful polished stones to my stoneguard, got lots of comments, none bad. Bill W.

Remember the computers do not actually create a formula for your color but rather match it to a color in their data base. This is not to say a true color match cannot be made, the jobber will have to do it by eye and if he is a busy location the question is will he take the time to do it for a can of touch up paint?

I've heard $25.00 per spray can on custom matched colors. That ain't chickenfeed! I have this to look forward to, as the rumble gutters were NOT painted??? I'll get single stage, any recomendations on paint type? I "think" mine is Andulusite Blue, It looks real dark blue, but in the late afternoon sunlight, it has a slight cast of a REAL DARK purple. I have read that statement here before but that really is not a totally accurate statement. The paint companies used to say that they could make a blendable match to get the painter close on everything but the sheen (gloss) and effects (metalics, pearls, etc.). The technology now is of such that if the spectrophotometer can get a clean shot of the panel, it will match the color in its entirity using the tinting colors that the paint company has in their system. This means it can match faded or "flattened" colors, along with other effects that have been added. One thing to remember is a paint companies analyzing computer does not know what brand paint it is reading, nor does it know whether it was a "benched mix" that someone concocted. Therefore it must make a special formula for each and every color it reads.

It looks like 1930 Kewanee green, with black, to me. I have an early 1930 Coupe. Mine is two tone green with black fenders. The roof is the darker Elkpoint green. The body is the lighter Kewanee green. I recently had a PPG auto paint store mix a half pint of each for me. They had formulas for both colors. The colors came close enough for brush touch ups, which is what I bought it for. To get an exact match, I have to leave the car there, so he can take the time to tint colors.

Hello Donvito, I like the colors on your coupe. I am working on a 31 slant windshield cabriolet and it had the same colors originally. I would like to have the codes for these colors if you have them. My email is [email protected]. Thanks for your help. Ed

If you are not worried about judging, once you match it, make up your own name like, "Sweet Pea" or "My Pod". Either way, that is one beautiful A!

I am having paint made up now and it looks like the lighter green on your car is keewanee green. The top is harder to tell, but if it is a dark green it should be elkpoint. The color that I am aiming for is very much like yours.

Anti-establishmint green? Regardless of what color it was, or is supposed to be, any time on the car, in the sun or in the weather will have changed it. In that case, you best bet would be to go with the color matching. You could also consider compounding/polishing the paint to get closer back to what it was-if it's faded.

I think Donvito is right, Kewanee Green. I had a '30 pickup that color.

My 1930 Tudor has a similar paint job which I applied myself in 1972. The lighter green is Kewanee Green and the darker green on the top is Elkpoint Green. That's the car in my avatar.

My Victoria is Elkpoint and Kewanee but I prefer to think of it as the color of money. Lot's and lot's of money.

I'm assuming the pictures are to be viewed RIGHT to LEFT, as the car was made proper.

I've never had much luck with the Prophet system. It gets you close but I've had to spend time at the mixing bench further tweaking colors by eye to get an exact match.

I've always wondered how we all know something is a particular color. Scientifically, we would all receive the same wavelengths of light, but even after taking (surviving) neuroanatomy, I am not convinced that we "see" exactly the same thing. No way to tell, but I just wonder if your visual "exact match" would really be mine under the same conditions.

What is clear is that I need more to do today.
