Hello MARC members,
It is my wish to host a national meet for the Model A Restorers Club in Branson Missouri in the summer of 2018.
This town is great for tourist stuff as well as many quality shows and great hotels and well as very reasonably priced hotels/motels as well for those who would like to attend without breaking the bank on hotel costs. Lots of Mom and Pop lodgings as well as many on the waterfront of several of the huge lakes in the area.
Traffic is moderate without high speed highways in town and so there are literally dozens of fine restaurants as well as so much to do that 2 weeks wouldn't be enough to take in all the shows and sites.
To accomplish this feet it will be necessary to form a new chapter of MARC as well as get those close by clubs to pitch in as this could be one of the largest MARC national meets in the history of our club. It is just 100 miles or less from the absolute center of the country and has good major interstate access to this area.
If you are a member of the St Louis, Kansas City, Wichita, Fulton or nearby MARC clubs please let me know what you think of this as a meeting place for the 2017 National meet and if you would be willing to pitch in to make this the best National Meet in years.
I think with proper planning and seeing that Branson is a destination location that we could achieve numbers approaching 1000 cars and it is super friendly area to slow moving traffic as most speed limits are 35mph or less so no worries to be run over getting onto streets and getting to and from hotels to restaurants and shows.

Last time I was in Branson (3 years ago) even though the speed limit may be 35mph, the max speed thru town was about 0.5 mph.

A little more planning time and it would be a wonderful place. The people in Branson are downright friendly. A great place to visit for sure ! Wayne

I know you are part of a very active club. Is there a chance that you could bring this up at your next chapter meeting and see how many would be able to come to Branson barring any unforeseen problems and if any of you could maybe put a day or even part of a day aside to help work in some function in that meet. We have 5 board members so far but will need a little help from our friends in the other regions to pull it off. Also will need some willing to do seminars. If all goes well we have push a 1000 model A total but will need plenty of help to do it. Branson is very willing to help as this is "right down our alley" Old cars. They now have a huge antique car auction as well in the fall. Do a google search for Branson Tourist Bureau and it will bring up lots of things. Also we would love to have this bring a youth even so bring a son daughter grandson or granddaughter as Branson is rich in events for our youth. We will advertise the swap meet as a huge event unto itself so expect a huge number of swap meet vendor both from within and from without the club(adding a club membership to first swap space rental). Please share your feedback with me and if you want to be a liaisons between your club and our new region that would be great.

Hmm... The last "world meet", joint marc/mafca was 2008. Ten years would be 2018. Will we ever see one again? Too much politics between the rivals? Someday I'd like to see another meet in Dearborn. Personally I hate Branson, but then it should be about the cars and members, not the location.

If I am able at 76 to go, I would definitely be there. From Iowa, Eastern or Western USA is a little far for me. About 275 miles gets me excited!! Very good destination for us mid-country guys.

I would help you best I can.. and I could do a service tool/KRW seminar like I did at Niagara Falls only better since I could bring more being close to home. at the 2014 membership I also did one on using a digital voltmeter....

Steve.. Larry Jenkins here.. Again. We talked about my CCPU.

We went to Branson 2 years ago and we are going again in November to see the Lennon Sisters.. Again.. At the Andy Williams Theater, What a place!

I'll be 85 by then, so you, as a 76 year old "kid," should have to problems.

It's not a bad ride, You will Love Branson. So different. So much to see..

Date has been set at 24 June thru 1 July 2018 and is at the same time unfortunately as the Reno meet but hotels were such that it was the last week of June or the 3rd week of August based on available hotel spaces. The host hotel, The Radisson/Grand Plaza has over 750 rooms at $89 per night with an overflow 2 blocks away at the Comfort for $69 and a mile away at the Super 8 for a little less. We thought with midwest heat in August that the last week of June would be a much better chance of not getting into the hot hot weather of August in Missouri. MAFCA meet is very early in 2018 as historically they have usually always been in July. But the distance is so far either for the eastern or midwest members as it seemed not to be an issue as few members would have driven that far in either direction. We only hope we can pull the east coast members but seems Branson does have a good pull and we are working on 7 and 10 day packages built around the meet to accommodate those who want to see more than a 6 day meet can facilitate. Possible two day tour on Sat/Sun after the awards banquet on Friday night as well. We hate to loose those few who would normally have been able to do both meets but scheduling couldn't be avoided.
