Default Non Folding Roadster Pickup Top

My 1929 Roadster pickup top does not fold, it appears correct both in looks and dimensions..I was wondering if commercial trucks did not fold and perhaps folding ones were a option or vise versa???

Initially, OCPU tops did not fold. At some point (sorry, dont have my info files with me at the moment) there were snaps along the wood strip that allowed the entire top assembly to be removed. ALso, I dont believe they ever had a 'roll-up' rear flap.

Post #2 answers it but I wanted to add that LeBaron Bonney makes a top that folds. Not correct for a restoration but great if you want it.

Here is our roadster pickup with the top down! If you are going to suffer no roll up windows you should be able to enjoy the benefits of having it wide open when you want to enjoy your journey!

I don't believe the '28-'29 open cab top was detachable at the seat rail.

I agree with Bruce the 1928-29 pickups were built to be an inexpensive vehicle. In doing so they did not have a folding top and they were nailed all they way around on the board which was bolted to the body. They were as plain and had a hand wiper very little chrome or nickel plating. They had a sewn in rear window and the bed was painted completely. It was the lowest cost Model A built!
