'32 Lower Radiator Hose Trick?
Is there any helpful hints on installing those short (and slightly bent) lower radiator hoses? I have a stock '32 Radiator, stock '32 motor mounts and hoses going onto a late 40's flathead.
Thanks! |

Re: '32 Lower Radiator Hose Trick?
Not sure about the '32, but my '38 is very easy by this method:
While installing motor mounts, engine is up on a floor jack with a block of wood to the crank case. While up, install the hoses on the radiator, then lower the engine down while aligning hoses to the pumps. The weight of the engine supplies the thrust required to seat the hoses. I use silicone inside the hoses, it protects the rubber, and eases future removal without destroying the hose. Many guys are afraid to use silicone for fear of the hose coming off, but actually, the clamp, if properly installed, assures that it will stay where it belongs, whereas hoses shortened to fascillitate installation will not permit clamping correctly.
