Default how to research your car

Hey fellers,

I have been looking for ways to research my car I am working on, but havent found much in the way of information. I know that there are people that have detailed information about stuff that is way beyond me. So my question is, how does one go about finding history and restoration particulars about specific models of vehicles?
My case in particular is a '39 ford deluxe coupe, other than the vin I know very little. Is there anything out there or someone out there that can shed some light into giving direction. Thanks

I purchased a book from the Early V8 club for my 1934 that gives lots of info by VIN regarding approximate build date and production numbers by model for each type that was built.

I feel sure that they have one for the 39 as well. Their website is
http://www.earlyfordv8.org/ .

This resource was very helpful to me.

If you belong to the AACA, you could contact the research library for info, or if you belong to the Early Ford v8 club they have a contact person for all the year cars

I was wondering the sme thing about my 51' Merc. I would love to get a history of the car much like those that do in the Pontiac historical society. It would be really neat to track the history of ownership and locations of ownership of my car. I'll have to check out the Early Ford V-8 club. I've beem thinking of joining...
