Default 38-41 Pickup body to frame bolts??

I understand that the OE type cab to frame bolts (as furnished by Roy N) have a small spring that is used to allow the cab to move around to cushion the cab and occupants.

Are these really necessary on a truck that will never be off smooth pavement?

How about some thin rubber cushions or thicker webbing between the cab and frame and bolt it directly?

Thanks!

there is a pad also. the bolt goes thru the cab mount thru a rubber cushion then thru the frame and under the frame the spring goes on the bolt, which has a cotter key hole and a crown nut. this spring allows the frame to flex with out flexing the cab mount.

Yes they are a good thing. Might find a valve spring will work just fine.

Frame welting is fairly cheap.

Roy is a great guy.

Thanks for the responses.

How about radiator mounting springs?

Wow - never knew about cab springs for a 1/2 ton. I've always got the 2-3 I've owned mounted on the wood and bolted them down. Only thing separating the wood from the frame was frame webbing. Thanks for the info

Mine has springs on the front 2 and the rear 2 bolts. I used a valve spring on one that was missing.
