As strange as it may seem, for some of my parts, I put them in the dishwasher. Between the heat, and detergent and the pressurized circulating water, It works great!

For old fossilized grease on drivetrain parts try melting it with a propane torch and a putty knife to scrape it..just be sure to wear a mask as the fumes are probably not good....final cleanup with solvent..

Me too, available at O'Reillys under $15/gal effective yet easy to work with. It is #2 on the master review list ... the #1 solvent was only slightly better but twice the cost.

Plus - It smells great. Like hanging a Christmas tree in your garage.

Is it safe on aluminum?

I got my parts washer through TP tools, I purchased the 30 gall that @ the time was on sale. TP also has a smaller stand alone 20 gallon for $150.00.

I'm using Crown PSC 1000 that I got from Tractor Supply it works very well with very low odor. What ever cleaning solvent you buy make sure you obtain and maintain the MSDS sheet.
