Looking for information on how the wood backrest attaches to the package tray and seat riser on a '32 Roadster. Pictures would be helpful.

The "package tray" is actually the seat adjuster. There is about 2 inches of tilt change by moving the bolts (or screws) to the other set of holes in the adjuster tin. There should be angle brackets at the top of the backrest wood that the bolts or screws go into. You will see the holes in the adjuster there are pairs of them. The adjuster tin is bolted solid to the body and panel between the seat and the decklid. I know the idea of the seat moving at the top of the backrest being "adjusted" is kind of lame.

Your sheet metal seat back cushion riser should have three angle straps that are attached to it. Those are where the seat back wood frame bottoms are attached.

Sorry firerod, I missed the part of your question about the bottom and only answered about the top part. DavidG IS the expert on all things 32.

Thanks guys. I have a Brookville body with package tray and seat riser with no brackets. Anyone know where I can get them? Also, anyone know who sells the best wood for the springs?

A few pictures that may help. The three brackets are only on the bottom. The "package tray" does not bolt to the seat, the seat just leans against it. I have my package tray set in the rear position.

The package tray originally firmly attached to the body and firmly attached to seat back wood frame. The seat back did not just lean up against the lip of the package tray (originals have holes in the lip just for that purpose).

I'd go back to Brookville regarding the lower brackets as other Brookville roadster bodies came with them attached to the seat back bottom riser. They are simply bent strap steel.

Thanks David for the correction. I now notice that I do have holes in the forward tray lip for attachment to the top of the seat back wood frame. Now just need to crawl in the back again with my drill and wood screws or is it supposed to be bolted?

Round head, slotted wood screws by virtue of the limited access.

Below are a couple photos of the rear of the front seat back cushion. The one with the trim panel removed is from a deluxe roadster, the other with at least some of the original trim panel intact is from a standard roadster.
