Default Removal rear radius rods

Can some one out there tell me if I have to remove the rear drums to get at the bolts that hold the rear radius rods ? Will I need a puller to remove the drums ? Thanks Tom

Yes you will need to pull the drum. The two radius rod nuts are shown in the picture, with the cotter pins.

And yes you will need a puller. This is a generic puller and it works just fine. There are pullers specifically made for the Model A.

1955cj5, do you know what make your puller is? I have a puller like that but it has shorter links and I would like to get some longer links and possibly a longer screw for it. My puller has no name on it.

Hi Ken,

I bought it several (about 5) years ago to pull the rear hubs off my '51 jeep.

I got it from one of the jeep parts vendors:

The one in the link looks nearly the same...mine has no brand name.

Toms, that's expensive. Just go with this and you will not be sorry.

Randy, thanks for the info. I'll stick w/what I've got for now. I have made extensions using 1/2" NF rod couplings and wheel bolts, like this:

I was given one of those hub pullers but have never used it. I always wondered if part of it was missing, seem like it should have something to keep it from slipping out off under a lot of tension.
