Default Weather Stripping Adhesive Removal.

I need to replace some of the weather stripping around the lift gate of my Ranch Wagon. What do you guys suggest to remove the old adhesive? Acetone and paint thinner don't touch it.

Thanks.

WD40will usually break down most adhesives, spray it on and let it sit for about 10 minutes then rub it off.

I'll give a shot (pun intended). Hope it works. It's that 3M yellow Gorilla Snot stuff. Been on there a while and it's HARD.

I think 3M makes an adhesive remover.

I see they have... 3M Weatherstrip Adhesive Release Agent #8971. I can't seem to find who sells it. Anyone have a clue?

I made some progress by warming it up to soften it with my small heat gun that I use for shrink tubing on wiring. Once it gets soft I can rub it off. Going to be slow tho.

I found it at an automotive paint supply. It works better than anything else I've tried without damaging the finish. It works great on removing road tar as well.
