Default Time for Henry to come out of retirement.

Thursday and Friday of the past week should turn out to be very memorable days for me and my '36 Ford, which we generally refer to as "Henry".
Henry has been slumbering in my garage, sitting on axle stands for over twenty years. I have told myself many times that I need to get busy and finish the brake job I started twenty plus years ago, another day/week goes bye with no progress.
Talking to my son Edward last week he brought up the subject of the recent work I was having done to tidy up my estate, Ed then asked about Henry and it's status, of course I had to respond that there had been no progress. Ed looked at me and said, "please don't leave me with a car scattered across the garage floor".
On Thursday I awoke thinking about what my son had said, later in the day I stopped by a local street rod shop that has done work for me before, this shop has done work on other EFV8's, so I feel comfortable with them working on Henry.
The owner of the shop. "Troy" told me he would have an open stall in a couple of weeks, and that he would be honored to have Henry in his shop.
Thursday afternoon I called H & H Flatheads in LA (LaCrescenta), talked to the owner Mike about freshening up the 59AB engine in Henry. I filled the cylinders up with MMO the last time the engine was ran, maybe it's alright, but I don't want to risk damaging an engine.
Mike told me his work schedule is running 8-10 weeks at the present time.
Yesterday morning I called John Connerlly @ Columbia Two Speed, made arrangements with John to go through the Columbia rear end under Henry.
The wheels have been put in motion to bring Henry back to life, and thereby solving another problem that my kids will not have to deal with.

Good thinking. It's even more important if you have no kids. Leaving a wife or significant other with unfinished projects is even worse.

I have a warm spot in my garage and I would be more than happy to give “Henry” the place he needs to enjoy his remaining years. Of course this will include seasonal exercise and I promise HE will never be a problem to your kids!!...LOL.... good luck with HIS reawakening and post a short video of your first drive...... Mark

This really hits home. I lost my father last November. He didn’t leave the car a mess across the garage but there was plenty of other stuff all over. Glad you’re getting your affairs in order. Toughest thing a child has to do

Finish it so that you can enjoy it, too.

I find that the largest impediment is inertia, whether it is in your head or physically. I always liked the Nike tag line: Just do it!

The pix that I posted in the tread is the same as the pix in my Avatar, it was taken in 1961. Henry had a new coat of black paint and an apple green pin strip. The new paint was the only time Henry has been repainted.
The head-lights are from a '40 Chevy. The Chevy head-light pods were a common custom touch in the early '50's on many well known '36 Ford customs.
The common way to put the Chevy head-lights on a '36 was to weld and French them into the fender. I was short on money and did not have access to a welder except in Auto Shop so I scribe fit the pods to the fender, over the original head-light mounts, then bolted them in place with fender welt between the pod and fender.
I put the original head-lights back on Henry in 1962, which completed it's return to a stock look.
