Default 1932 Ford Luggage Rack Pic Request

I am trying to install a 32 luggage rack and can't figure it out. Does anyone have a pic of a 32 luggage rack in the down position without luggage on it? Do the trim strips face the sky or the ground in the down position?

On a Model A the trim strips (usually wood) are DOWN when the rack is "opened". I believe the 32 would be the same.

You are correct. I went out and messed with it and figured it out. I never saw one down in person. I thought they covered more of the tank than they do. This sticks way out from the body and basically leaves everything forward of the spreader bar exposed which is a major bummer.

You did not specify which body type on which you are adding a rack. The rack brackets in Ian's photos are for the phaetons, roadsters, standard and sport coupe, the sedans, and the Victoria. The brackets for the convertible sedan are unique and place the rack closer to the body as shown in the photo below.

Ian,

With respect, the slotted plates attached to your cross tube appear to be reversed. The side with the countersunk area at the ends of the slot goes on the same side as the knob to match up with the tapered end of the shanks on the knobs.

Have posted a wanted ad before, but wouldn't mind finding an original luggage rack rear spreader bar....
