Default Melbourne Cup

Happy holiday to the Aussies.

My money is on "Downdraught".

I decided to double my money this year, so I took a fifty dollar note out of my wallet then I folded in two and put it back in my pocket. Guaranteed winner. I know that's not very Australian but I didn't lose as I normally do.

And the crazy thing for us Victorians, it was a public holiday. Which is just as crazy as our public holiday for a football grand final parade. not even the grand final itself.

but Dave, an AFL final does not warrant a day off or even an afternoon off. Watching paint dry is more exciting.

AFL is my favourite sport, but a holiday for a parade a day before the GF, crazy. At least, IMHO, paint drying is more exciting than un-canned dog food running in circles, in no way should there be a holiday for it.

for those readers who haven't figured out what "uncanned dog food" is, Dave is referring to the Melbourne Cup horse race which was run yesterday. Yes Dave, I'd have to agree with you on that.

This is what the Melbourne Cup is all about for most Australians. An excuse for drunken stupidity.

I live in Melbourne and have never been to the cup, nor do I think I ever will - just not interested.

I was talking to a guy who was contracting and his agency set up a marquee at Randwick in Sydney one cup day. After getting his fill he thought he'd walk home. On the way he decided to lay down and promptly went to sleep. He woke to a large whooping noise and rushing of air. In his stuper he thought he'd been abducted by aliens.
He'd gone to sleep on a helipad.

yeah, that's probably so M2M. (Posting number 10). Being entertained by drunk women would be considerably more entertaining than watching horse's run around in circles.
