Default Model A in Granada Hills, CA HDU 834

I am interested in contacting the current owner of a 31 Deluxe Coupe that was my first car in 1965 in Granada Hills, CA. Had black CA license HDU 834 as per the photo. I sold it to someone in the area about 1967. I drove it to Pierce College daily for two years and all over SoCal. It was a great experience and is why I am now back into the Model A hobby. This car was used in the movies for many years. I bought it from someone who worked for Paramount and it had a CBS window sticker on the windshield. It was actually built in March '32 and had a roll down rear window and dome light. It was Brown and Black at the time. Would love to be in contact with the current owner.

If you have the serial number from the registration you can have the number run to find out if it still exists.

Have the plate # run to see if it's ok for use as a "year of manufacture" use. If not ok'd because it's still in use.....well probably still on the A

Just might help you find out if it's still in use and might mean that its still on the A

What I meant was I don't think I can request a plate unless I live in CA. Before I moved up here from CA I tried to get the original plate for my 1965 Shelby Mustang and I had to submit the request through CA DMV. I don't think I can do that without having a CA home address and the registration / vin for the car.

No, you wouldn't be requesting a plate. Call the DMV 800 number and give them the plate number and ask if its available to be used on a car for a YOM plate. You don't have to tell them the year or type of car. Only the plate number. If the plate isn't currently assigned to a vehicle they will tell you that it is available to be used for YOM. If it is currently assigned they won't tell you to whom only that its currently assigned. If it is currently assigned it would be a safe bet its still on your old Model A. That said you will at least know if its still around and hopefully still on your old Model A.

The plate pictured on his car came out in 1963. Not a YOM plate.

No. But since you can't run the plate number you ask the DMV if its available for use as a YOM plate. If it isn't then there is a chance (how good unknown) that its still on the Model in question. If it is available for use as a YOM then the Model in question has either been replated, maybe with a personalized plate or is no longer registered.

Contact the Model A clubs in the area where you sold the car. And surrounding areas.
