Default New seat springs

A guy here asked where to get new seat springs for his 1946 pickup and I cant find the guys in South Texas, near Houston who sold new springs at Pate every year.
I kept looking and I see where Snyders and Macs are selling bare springs but $750??? Thats crazy pricing. Anyone know the name of the seat spring company in Texas?

Any more thoughts on this?? I could also sure use some help/guidance. I've been looking around my area - can't find any shop that works on springs anymore. Through a supply house, couldn't even get coil springs or any of the related stuff to do the job. I looked at the above source, and it looks like they have all the needed supplies - if only I could learn to DIY. Has anyone seen info on how to build, tie, cover, etc ???

The last place in the Houston / south Texas area with springs that I recall was the old Specialized Auto Parts. I bought springs from them in the late 80's.

I had about 3 springs broken in my 47 truck and the rest were good so rather then buying the whole thing I bought individual springs from Snyder. I gave them the size I needed and each spring was relatively cheap.

The spring box units were basically some heavy wire to form the top & bottom of the box and spring coils of a height to give best possitioning. The hard part to get is the special clips and special tools to crimp the clips.

If only a couple of springs are bad, a person can get a close match on a new spring and use hog rings to attach it in. Hog ring pliers & rings are easy to get.

Wait till theres a organic collection then use the springs of a bed or Lounger /sofa .or go to a bed manufacture ,make up your own .Fold up some 1" U shaped 21 gauge for the top and bottom .
