Default Wiper arm tension 1936

Is there any way to lesson the tension on the wiper arm so it doesn't press against the windshield as hard?

Not sure if the 36 is different, but it all depends on the type of wiper arm . Some have a screw near the mounting point to the motor arm . The screw is attached to a spring to adjust the tension. Not all wiper arms have this .

Probably just feels like too much tension compared to modern longer wipers with a cam that allows them to pull & hold away from the windshield.

I have to ask if your wiper arms are original or aftermarket? The wipers and arms that were on my "46 Coupe when I bought it were aftermarket, and the arms were heavier with more tension then original and the blades were almost twice the weight of the originals. The wiper motor could hardly move the wipers. I replaced the arms and wipers with correct pieces, and the wipers work as they should.

It's an aftermarket wiper arm. The wiper motor works very slow. When I release a little tension by lifting the arm with my finger, the wiper motor works as it should.

Can you bend the arm slightly to relieve the tension?

Either switch back to original wiper arms or coat your windshield with RainX, which will lessen the drag of the blades.

I'll try RainX. I don't have original wiper arms.

X 2 with RainX. They also make a pre-application cleaner. Not convinced it's better than wash and windex first but the glass should be as clean as possible before applying.
