I have a 1939 Ford DeLuxe Tudor. When I turn the steering wheel left it hesitates when I get to the 3/4's of a turn of the steering wheel. It then takes a little extra effort to go past that point. When I turn right it doesn't happen. I jacked up the car to turn the wheels manually and found that the arm that comes out of the steering box seems to hesitate. I do not see any play in the front end. What do I need to look for to solve the problem?

Are you sure the steering box is adjusted with the wheel in the center position (between full right and full left)? I could see this happening if the adjustor was tighted down off center.

There could be some surface irregularities in the worm gear in that location. They usually wear out in the centered location but corrosion and other factors can change that.
