Re: Santa came early
Wish Santa would have brought me one instead of two folding chairs that don't fit!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why is a long block called a touring block?

Re: Santa came early
Check PIRANIOS ANTIQUE AUTOMOTIVE in the list of engine rebuilders. He has some interesting dyno results. His "touring" engine has a counterweighted crank, balanced rotating assembly, pressure oiled center min, crane touring cam and a Snyder 5.3-1 cylinder head. It makes 54 horsepower at about 2,200 rpm with a Zenith.
In contrast, Henry's finest barely managed 40. |

Re: Santa came early
AER's version has all that plus bigger intake valves and a higher compression head.

Re: Santa came early
A lot of work ahead to make it a long block( brain fart), touring motor,
counter weighted crank, inserted bearings,Stipe 330 cam, larger intake valves, 6.0 head. I don't want to be a farm implement going do the road! The safety triangle and yellow lights on the back look bad :-) |

Re: Santa came early
Basically:
Short Block does not include the head, valve & gear covers, oil pump, pan, etc. Long block includes all of the above YMMV The term "Touring engine" as others have stated above really has nothing to do whether it's a short or long block.
