Default head stud sealer

on a flat head what type of sealer is best to use on the head studs?? that go in the block

#2 Permatex works for me.
It's non hardening & handles re-torquing well.

I use PTFE stuff - usually ARP:

I also coat the sides of the studs with anti-seize.

You do not torque the studs, just run them down until the shoulder on the stud contacts the head. might want to have a head in place to be sure they are aligned with the head as you install them.

I prefer #2 or Aviation Permeated. Some folks like to use Teflon tape. I also like the idea of using Anti-seize on the sides of studs. I like to use a thread cleaning tool to clean the internal threads in the deck prior to installing studs. NEVER USE A THREAD CUTTING TAP or DIE on these threads! Then I install studs hand tight, without torquing them.
