motor id
hello I have a 1941 ford 2door the motor that's in it has a code E2781: on the back of the motor and a 59 below this. 59 AB on the heads how can I id this motor?? Please

The E2781 means very little (casting info). The markings on the head mean little also as heads were easily changed. About all you can do is look at the block with the heads off and see what the water passage cut outs look like, but hard to nail it down except to a year range. A 59 cast in the bellhousing indicates it is a 46 to 48 block.

59 indicates 46 - 48 and all Ford and Mercury engines were the same for those years.
