ID help with spring perches
Hi all,
I have a pair of spring perches I can't ID. Came with a box of parts, mixed model A stuff with later flathead stuff. Here's what I can tell, spring over setup so it's till '34 but it's for the thicker axles, 2 1/4" not the 2" as I have a set of '32 hot rod perches. So, deduction says Model A, Maybe AA but they don't have the bosses for the mechanical brake parts. Also these have a killer 7 degree angle to then for increased caster and easier steering action at low speeds and easy wheel return and stability. So..........what do you think and if you have some pics let me know. Thanks, Cliff Ramsdell |

Re: ID help with spring perches
I think those are 1940, there is a sway bar that attaches to that eyelet. Bob

Re: ID help with spring perches
Bob,
The other one has 41 cast into it. No, the problem with the 1940 theory is that ford went to spring in front in 1935 and used that till 1948 when they went to independent. Last year for spring on top of the axle was 1934. I just sold a pair of 1940 ones and the had the single eyelet for the sway bar and were the same length. Cliff Ramsdell |
