First trip of spring
So I was stuck in the basement all day running wire. I decided I would take a break and take the A to the gas station and enjoy the nice weather. I put a little gas in the tank and headed off to fill up the rest of the tank. Topped off the tank, headed out of the station and all of a sudden, gas starts POURING out of the gas gauge. I happened to have a little square tupperware container in the front with me. I'm holding the plastic bowl under the dash catching gas and trying to shift. Thankfully I only live a mile and half from the station. I get home, the wife is helping me to drain the rest of the tank to below the gauge. I go ahead and pull the gauge to see if a gasket is shot only to find that the gauge glass was completely cracked and falling out of the gauge itself. Does anyone know what would cause this? My gauge never leaked before. I would regularly fill the tank to full and never had even a drip and now the glass is all cracked in pieces?
Chris P.S. I guess one more reason to carry a fire extinguisher in the A. |
