Default Carburetor problems

I've been having carb problems lately, typically I run a Tillotson because it worked great. However, a few weeks back I started having idling problems--as in it doesn't idle. It dies if you don't have the idle fast using the column lever. The carb is clean in and out, I pulled it apart again today and cleaned it with spray carb cleaner blowing through all the passages. It still has the same problem of not idling. It ran perfectly before... Ideas?

The second carb problem is my backup carb. The backup is a side bowl late 31 Zenith. It was rebuilt, but when you turn the gas on it just pours out the back. The float seems adjusted right based on my measurements and remeasurements. Could the needle/seat assembly just be "bad". Other thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks!

If the back up carb is pouring, it could be a stuck needle valve or a hole in the float. If the needle is stuck, usually tapping firmly but not hard enough to break it with a small hammer or the handle of a screwdriver on the upper housing above the needle valve . If its trash causing the needle to stick, this should help. The next thing would be to remove the bolt under the bottom that holds the halves of the housing together and remove and inspect the float .

I think we can rule out an intake leak. I replaced the gaskets, checked the recently milled intake/exhaust alignment which is dead on, checked for a leak at the wiper/line, and looked for cracks. Unfortunately, it still dies when idling down.
