Default model 59 carb.

hi guys. have some questions about this carb. its mounted on a 8rt intake, which is mounted on what I believe is a eac engine in my 48 coupe. it leaks fuel a little. is this a early truck carb? are there rebuild kits made for it? thanks for any replys. dick.

Model 59s were used from 46-48 (debuted in 45) on both cars and trucks. Your 8BA/8RT manifold was used on 48-53 trucks and 49-53 cars. Contact Charlie NY here on the 'barn for parts.

Dick, the model 59 has no vac port to serve the distributor. Not needed if you go with Bubba's Chev conversion, but the Ford requires it.

ford38v8,. the the vac line from the dist. is connected to the same line that goes to the vac. wiper motor. it seems to work fine to me. it runs good at speed, hard pull up hill, ect. I would expect if I had the wipers on, I might see a problem, but I never tried it. thanks for the reply. further input about this would be thankful.

Dick, that setup is correct if you have the front mount distributor original to your '48. The 49-53 engine with the front passenger side distributor-on-a-stick calls for the carb with integral vacuum port. They are both 94 carbs, but the 59 hasn't that port. I've heard that you'd get better response from the correct carb for that distributor.
