Fan replacement

Is there anything else needed to replace my old 4 blade fan with a new one piece aluminum 2 blade fan? (other than the fan itself) Thanks

Consider adding the thrust collar and washer, snyder's pn A8511-C.

A thin steel washer that goes on before the nut as alloy fan may work loose, AZ Model A sells them, Does not come with fan, This is important,

take the nut that fits the king pin wedge and screw it on the water pump shaft with the pump out of the car,hold the pump by the fan blades and have somebody whack the head of the nut and the fan will slide of the tapered shaft,watch your toes.

Why a new nut?

I would go out of my way to use an original. I have not looked, but this could be one of the places where a higher tolerance thread was used. Going to a modern replacement would then mean going to a looser fit.

I have a knock off tool. Can I use it while the fan and waterpump are still on the engine? (with the radiator still in)

No - There isn't enough room to slide the fan off the shaft without hitting the radiator.

No way of giving the knock off tool a whang with a hammer while the radiator is between them either.

My new aluminum 2 blade fan didn't come with the thin steel washer everyone says to use. I went to a hardware store, and couldn't find an exact fit. I found one, I think metric, that fit in the circular depression on the end of the fan. But the hole was a tad small. I rolled up sandpaper into a tube, and turned the washer around the sandpaper to enlarge the hole. Took about an hour, but it worked.

I do understand your question which has been answered above in several posts.
I don't know is you realize that you will have to at the very least loosen the two rods under the hood and push it forward so that you can remove that four bladed fan. I would also suggest to remove the four studs that hold the pump in place and replace them with the ones that act as a bolt but looks like to original equipment. That way you can remove the water pump at a later date, if needed, without loosing the two rods mentioned above.

Yes sir, I removed the hood and the light bar. The fan and pump are now off.
