Default 1930 CCPU Backrest Thick to Thin

We had 60 degrees here in Ohio, so I took the backrest out and tied up some of the springs in hopes of a little more comfort. Man, what a difference! I'm guessing I got close to 3" more room. I took some old galvanized tomato stake baskets, and cut them into 4" pieces, then bent a loop at both ends. Compressed the springs and attached the "clamp".

Total cost $0. Better than buying thinner springs.

A great idea. My 31 roadster pickup has roadster seats, while they are very comfortable, they do not offer a lot of space between my belly and the steering wheel.

cw, I wonder if you could do me a favor, and take measurements of height, length, and thickness of both top and bottom cushions. I would appreciate it. thanks, mike

I took the springs out completely and used a sheet of 3/8 plywood and 1" of foam, and it works fine even on long trips 2000 miles.

I noticed your seat back is very vertical, and my friend's 31 wide bed is the same way. It's not comfortable and I'm not sure what's wrong. I've seen other pickups with a more slanted backrest.

It was more slanted before I tightened up the springs. There are 3 vertical slanted boards attached to the back of the cab that give the slant.
